The management team of ICE took advantage of the relative quiet summer holiday period to conduct one of its regular reviews of status and strategy.
The shipbuilding industry is currently experiencing difficult times due to over-capacity, cancelations of shipbuilding contracts and great
difficulties for shipowners to obtain financing for new ships. Ship design companies are among the first to feel the effect of this situation, and ICE has
experienced a huge reduction in commercial ship design work. However, thanks to its cost-saving measures and diversification into the defence and energy industries ICE is managing the downturn well and is already seeing signs of better times
ahead. |
