The Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through the Department for Export Controls (ANCEX), has recently registered ICEPRONAV Engineering SRL, ICE’s Romanian ship design subsidiary, to conduct import, export and transfer operations related to naval vessel design services. ANCEX is the authority which ensures compliance with Romania’s related obligations under relevant international treaties and legislation.

ICE is currently involved with two different multi-year projects for design of naval vessels, one of which requires this registration.

Historically, ICEPRONAV has designed most of the Romanian Navy’s fleet. After its inclusion in the ICE Group, ICEPRONAV has been involved as a subcontractor in the design of a variety of ships, ranging from aircraft carriers to offshore patrol vessels (OPVs), for navies and coast guards in Brazil, Canada, Greece, Oman, Romania, Thailand, the UK and the US.

ICE has also developed its proprietary Thames Class OPV (illustrated), with cost-effective versions tailored for navy and coast guard use.

A recent boost in defence spending has created strong demand for ICE’s design capacity and experience in the international defence market.
