With up to 700,000 man-hours of design capacity and a track record of 55 years, ICE is Europe’s largest independent ship design company, servicing clients world-wide through providing designs for commercial ships, naval & coastguard ships, and vessels for the offshore oil, gas and renewable energy industries.
ICE’s services range from vessel concept design through to basic (Class approved functional design) and detail design to the development of production information for shipyards; covering all core naval architecture and marine engineering disciplines such as hydrodynamics, structural, mechanical, piping, electrical, instrumentation, outfit and HVAC. ICE’s primary 3-D modelling design tool is AVEVA Marine (250 licenses).
All of the Group’s in-house design workforce consists of degreed engineers and naval architects, thereby enabling big multi-discipline projects to be executed timely and professionally within ICE. In 2014, ICE delivered more than 700,000 man-hours of engineering, design and project management work. Also, ICE has an inventory of ICE proprietary designs can be offered to Clients to enable quick project start-ups.
ICE has systematically built up a comprehensive system of project and design management procedures and best practices covering scope of work definition, contract administration, scheduling, cost control, reporting, coordination, document management and risk management. The system works hand-in-hand with a fully integrated Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system applied at all stages of design development.
