ICE congratulates Cadeler and Hanwha Ocean Shipyard on the successful delivery of “Wind Maker”, a state-of-the-art wind turbine installation vessel (WTIV).
Wind Maker, the first of two M-class wind installation vessels in Cadeler’s newbuild portfolio, is an NG-16000X design by GustoMSC. It is designed to install foundations and wind turbine components for next-generation wind turbines in water depths of up to 65 meters and can operate on liquefied natural gas (LNG) or ammonia.
ICE is honoured to have contributed to this project by providing detailed design approval services in 2021 under a contract with Eneti Inc. In 2023, Cadeler and Eneti entered into an agreement to merge, creating a new force in offshore wind turbine and foundation installations. The combined group is now headed by Cadeler A/S, based in Denmark.
ICE has extensive experience in completing GustoMSC WTIV basic design packages (including drawings and calculations for Class approval) and providing 3D models, detailed design and production information tailored to the specific needs of individual yards. ICE is also assisting WTIV owners in upgrading and modifications of existing units, and contributing with “lessons learnt” and risk analyses for prospective new vessels.
