ICE Group brought together colleagues, specially invited former senior employees, local partners and guests in Galați, Romania, on 17 July to celebrate 60 years since the formal establishment of the ICEPRONAV ship design institute. By coincidence, the ICE Group’s Isle of Man holding company was also incorporated 60 years ago.

Hosted at ICEPRONAV Engineering SRL, Steinar Draegebo, Chairman of the ICE Marine Design Group, welcomed the invited guests at the top floor meeting room. Thereafter, Sorin Brazdis, Managing Director of ICEPRONAV Engineering, presented ICE’s current corporate structure and gave a historic overview of events, technology developments and ships and offshore platforms designed during the 60 years. His presentation was followed by a guided tour of the offices, where design work for offshore platforms, navy vessels and icebreakers is currently in progress.

The tour culminated in a dedicated anniversary exhibition in the building’s main reception area. Through archive photographs, historical documents and project displays, guests explored six decades of ship and offshore platform achievements for customers in about 40 countries worldwide.

The celebrations continued with a barbecue party and drinks reception in the park-like grounds of ICEPRONAV Engineering, attended by all ICEPRONAV’s employees not yet on holiday and the invited guests. It gave current and former colleagues an opportunity to reconnect and share memories alongside partners and clients.
