Coen Landa, ICE’s Business Development Director was recently invited by AIDA Cruises to visit the cruise ship AIDAprima in Rotterdam. Aida Cruises is part of Carnival Corporation and operates a fleet of 12 ships. Coen met with captain Falk Bleckert and AIDA’s general manager Michael Wetzler (pictured here) to discuss the performance of the ship in general and ICE’s design contribution when she was built the Mitsubishi Nagasaki shipyard in 2013.
ICE performed 3-D model coordination drawings for AIDA Cruises’ flagship, benefitting from ICE’s several years’ experience from cruise ship design in Europe. The majority of ICE‘s engineering work was carried out at its offices in Romania, with one interface engineer seconded to Japan for the coordination of outfitting arrangements.
AIDAprima was the first cruise ship in the world to use LNG as a fuel when she was introduced in 2016. She is currently making weekly cruises in the Northern European area, beside Rotterdam making calls to Hamburg, Southampton, Le Havre and Zeebrugge.
