We are pleased to recognise that Mr Fred. Olsen – an industry pioneer – has reached his 90th birthday. With roots going back to 1848 and a rich history in shipowning and more recently offshore drilling, the Fred. Olsen group’s interests are today focused on renewable energy, estate management and travel, inclusive cruise vessel operations.
Mr Draegebo, ICE’s Chairman and Chief Executive says:
“My first job as a young naval architect after University was with a subsidiary of the Aker Group, Norway’s erstwhile builder of ships ranging from VLCCs to passenger ferries and reefers. The Group was then chaired by Mr Fred. Olsen and by coincidence I got to know members of his family. It therefore pleases me that – years later – ICE has provided design support for several Fred. Olsen ventures, including conversion of a semi-submersible drilling platform, conceptual design of an FPSO vessel and design and later upgrades of two wind turbine installation vessels.”
We wish Mr Fred. Olsen many more years of happiness and good health!
