Recently, ICE had the pleasure of hosting Her Excellency Siri Barry, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway during her visit to Galati. Ambassador Barry is also accredited as Norway’s Ambassador to Bulgaria and Moldova.

Following a brief introduction to ICE’s senior management team, Steinar Draegebo, Chairman and Chief Executive of ICE Group, provided Ambassador Barry with an overview of ICE Group’s background and activities, with focus on ICE’s involvement with Norway and Norwegian customers. In 2023, ICE has had four contracts with Norwegian customers, two related to vessels for installation of offshore wind turbines and two involving conversion of gas carriers to floating storage and regasification units (FSRUs) – one of those projects is still ongoing.

This is the second time ICE has had the honor of hosting a Norwegian ambassador in its Galati office; the first visit was in 2007 when H.E. Arne Ulland did the official opening of ICE’ new in-house training centre. ICE has also on three occasions had the pleasure of visits from British ambassadors, reflecting the amount of design work ICE has performed related to defence projects for UK customers.

The picture shows the Ambassador being briefed by Andrei Sevastre, Principal Engineer, Machinery and Piping Department during her tour of ICE’s design office, guided by Sorin Brazdis (left), the Managing Director of ICEPRONAV Engineering and Mr Draegebo.
