Prior to recently attending a contract that involved design work for an offshore platform in the Black Sea, Eugeniu Rotaru, a Principal Engineer in ICE’s Outfitting & Deck Equipment Department was required to undergo the Basic Offshore Safety Induction Emergency Training (BOSIET) at a training centre in Constanta, Romania.
ICE has over the years designed many offshore platforms and several of these are now requiring updates and modifications.
During the 3-day course, Eugeniu gained an understanding and awareness of the hazards encountered when working on offshore installations, as well as the safety regime and safety management systems in place to control and mitigate those hazards. The course was a mix of theoretical and practical sessions.
