In August, a relaxation of UK’s COVID-19 travelling restrictions added Romania on the so-called “green list” of countries from which travellers with valid vaccinations no longer would need to quarantine upon arrival in the UK. As a result, ICE had the pleasure of a 2-day visit of a delegation from Ferguson Marine (Port Glasgow) Limited, the first client to physically visit ICE’s main design office for more than a year.
Since early 2020, ICE has been providing substantial technical assistance to help Ferguson correct and complete the design of two partially-built dual-fuel RoPax ferries, for which Ferguson assumed responsibility when it acquired the yard in December 2019. Except for a team from ICE that undertook laser scanning to establish the status of outfit of the first ferry, almost all ICE services have been provided remotely due to COVID-19 restrictions.
The discussions focussed on status of the work completed, lessons learnt and design support for upcoming projects.
