Santierul Naval Constanta (SNC) in Romania is one of ICE’s long-standing shipyard customers. In October, while representing ICE at the naming ceremony of M/T Histria Narvi, Sorin Brazdis, Managing Director of ICEPRONAV Engineering was also invited to visit the Histria Ivory, which was at the yard for maintenance.
This 18-year-old 37,000 tdw IMO 3 Chemical/Oil Products Tanker was built in 2006 as part of a series of 21 vessels constructed by SNC. ICE cooperated with the yard by developing the concept design, towing tank model testing, basic and detail design, production information, sea trials, and developing loading computer software.
Reflecting on the visit, Sorin Brazdis commented:
“Stepping aboard this 18-year-old ‘lady’ and seeing the ship in such remarkable condition was a truly heartwarming and surprising moment for me. The vessel’s enduring strength and resilience are a testament to the meticulous design and engineering efforts we invested all those years ago. This was a project I had the privilege of contributing to as a young structural analysis engineer employed by ICE. Witnessing firsthand how our hard work has stood the test of time – ensuring the vessel’s continued performance and safety – was incredibly gratifying. This visit reinforced my pride in our collective achievements and the lasting impact of our work.”
The visit also served as a reminder of the significant role played by the dedicated crew and maintenance teams in preserving the vessel’s integrity. ICE extends its appreciation to everyone involved in maintaining and operating the ship.
