Customers and other friends of ICE have been concerned to learn from the media about the exceptionally severe flooding in central Europe last month, including in the Galati area of Romania. However, we are happy to reassure everyone that the City of Galati was unaffected of any flooding, and there were no incidents that affected the normal operations of our subsidiary ICEPRONAV Engineering SRL or its tenants.
Located next to the Danube river, the ground floor of ICE’s engineering buildings is elevated well above the surrounding ground level, which in itself is protected by a solid levee against raising river water. Some years ago, the nearby Damen shipyard was partly closed due to high water levels; however, we have no record of flooding ever putting a stop to work at ICE or the other tenants that rent space in our main office building.
The picture shows ICE’s main office building in Galati, Romania, which in addition to ICE provides office space for two international Classification Societies (Lloyd’s Register and RINA), a local United Nations office, and other tenants. The building is part of a property wholly owned by ICE’s parent company.
