Oslo-listed oil and gas firm BW Energy has announced its acquisition of the FPSO “ Cidade de Vitória” from Saipem. In 2007, ICE played a major role in the marine design effort to convert this vessel from a Very Large Crude Carrier (VLCC) into an FPSO. That successful project was shortly followed by the award of a contract for conversion design of a sister vessel, leading to more than 40 FPSO projects (conversions, new construction and technical studies) performed by ICE since then.
Currently operating in the Golfinho field offshore Brazil, the FPSO Cidade de Vitória is a versatile unit boasting 1.6 million barrels of storage capacity.
We are pleased to see this FPSO changing hand between two established ICE customers and we hope the vessel will provide many more years of satisfactory service.
